6 Natural Face And Body Scrub Recipes To Do At Home

Especially when the season is changing, it is essential to take proper care of your face and body skin. Since extreme temperatures can cause serious damage to your skin, it is recommended to prevent those damages.

Exfoliators, or scrubs as they are called most often, are very healthy for the skin if you use the right ones and especially if you don’t abuse them. It is recommended to exfoliate your skin maximum once a week.

Pay attention: if you suffer from acne or if you have deep comedones, use dilute acids and not scrubs for exfoliating your facial skin.

There are many scrubs on the market with chemicals and colorants that can generate allergic effects to your skin, and we don’t want that. The ideal solution? Create your own scrubs. It can be funny, you can enjoy some “you time”, and most of all, you can explore your creativity.

Since there are many ways and combinations to create a face or body scrub, some cosmetologists shared their experience with people worldwide and posted some tutorials and recipes on their blogs or youtube channels. After I made a research on this subject, I tried some and I selected here for you the best natural face and body scrub recipes. You can prepare them at home in just a few minutes and with basic ingredients.

There are many salons that use as a spa marketing idea body and face scrub recipes they share on their social media pages. I guess this is a great and helpful thing they do for their beloved clients, so they can take care of their skin both at home and at the spa salon. So, do not hesitate to search on Facebook or Instagram for your favourite spa salon and follow it: you might receive lots of useful information and tips for your skin.

Before starting, some safety guidelines you need to know

These homemade body exfoliators are only intended to be used on your body maximum once a week and only if you are not allergic to the containing ingredients. While applying the scrub, remember that the skin on your face is much more sensitive than the skin on the rest of your body, so you should avoid exfoliating your skin if it is sunburned, broken, swollen or recovering after a peeling.

If you want to add essential oils to your scrub recipe, you should test it first on a little patch of  skin to make sure you’re not allergic to the oil.

Now, let’s enjoy the recipes:

Lavender face and body sugar scrub

  • 1 cup of sugar (white or brown)
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Lavender oil

The sugar gives to this face and body scrub it’s exfoliating abilities, while the coconut and olive oils help moisturize the skin. Mix all your ingredients into a bowl, and gently add some drops of lavender oil. It gives to your scrub an awesome smell and contributes to relaxing, treating anxiety, insomnia or headaches.

Mediterranean body scrub

  • 1 cup of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 3 zested limes
  • 20 drops of lime essential oil

For an ultra-relaxing experience, this body scrub is the perfect idea. Draw yourself a bath and make sure you have this scrub with you. Thanks to the combination of sea salt, lime and coconut, it gives you a mediterranean, beachy feeling anywhere you are.

You have all the benefits in one body exfoliant: removes dead skin thanks to the sea salt, it hydrates through the coconut oil, and purifies your skin with the lime oil. Give it a try!

Refreshing body scrub

  • 1 cup brown or white sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 4 drops of eucalyptus oil
  • 4 or 5 cucumber slices
  • 4 or 5 mint leaves

Wanna feel better that a tough week ended and finally you can relax? Prepare this body scrub which not only smells fantastic, but also feels refreshing and puts you in the mood for the weekend.

For preparing this scrub, make sure you’ve blended the cucumber and mint leaves and combine all the ingredients in a bowl. After that, apply the scrub on your body: it will help leave your skin softer when you rinse it off.

Citrus body scrub

  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil
  • The zest of a lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of pureed papaya or mango
  • 10 drops of orange essential oil

During the cold season, a citrus body scrub will not only boost your vibes, but also the vitamins and collagen in your skin. This is absolutely one of my favourite body scrubs ever. Mix everything, give it a try and relax. 🙂

Green tea face and body scrub

  • 2 teabags of green tea
  • ½ cup of hot water
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • ¼ cup of melted coconut oil

Just add the tea bags in the hot water, and let the tea cool. Mix the sugar and coconut oil into a bowl. Once the tea has cooled, add it to the sugar and oil mix. If the mixture is too liquid, add more sugar. As the green tea is a potent anti-aging ingredient, get ready to reach a perfect skin texture after this face and body scrub.

Honey face and body scrub

  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • ¼  cup of melted coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Honey is known worldwide for its strong antioxidant properties for the skin. It not only helps recover skin tissue and protects against UV rays, but it also contributes to improving skin problems. After massaging the honey scrub on your skin, be sure to rinse your skin off to prevent stickiness.
